The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is the Catholic parish church of the Fürstenzell parish and former monastery church of the Fürstenzell Cistercian abbey.
Above the entrance is written: "DOMUS DEI ET PORTA COELI" (House of God and Gate of Heaven). Upon entering the church, your first glimpse will be of the magnificent ceiling painting depicting the pilgrimage of the Cistercian Order. The side chapels are richly decorated with figures, paintings, angels and stuccoes. At the high altar by Johann Baptist Straub, the representation of faith, hope and love with cherubs on the rococo tabernacle will impress you. The worship angels on the right and left are elegant and graceful. Jakob Zeiler depicted the Assumption of Mary in the altar painting. The well-formed pulpit shows a beautiful relief of the sower by J. B. Modler. Look for the angel with the beehive! Find your personal favourite work of art in this magnificent, light-filled room.
