Bad Birnbach is effective against stress and chronic pain

Exhaustion and stress can have a negative effect on performance and thus on quality of life. That is why it is important to prevent stress. Together with the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich and the AOK Bavaria, we have developed a prevention programme for stress reduction, which was investigated in a study. Among other things, the study examined how the stress and strain experience of the participants changed. The study was sponsored by the Free State of Bavaria.

Compared to a control group at home, both groups, which took part in the prevention programme in Bad Birnbach, significantly reduced their subjective perception of stress (measured using questionnaire PSQ1, on a scale of 0 to 100). Participants of group B (programme without psycho-educative seminar) improved on average up to 16 points, test persons of study group A - who additionally completed psycho-educative sessions e.g. with logotherapy according to Viktor Frankl - achieved better values of up to 30 points. The four-day refresher course after six months made a decisive contribution to stabilising the positive effects of the prevention programme.

A current study of  Heil- und Thermalbäder in Niederbayern e. V., in which the university Würzburg has taken over the accompanying research, confirms the special relaxation effects after a spa stay in Bad Birnbach. There are clear signs of improvement towards the end of therapy, especially in the case of treatment measures to combat stress. Just two examples: The average stress level experienced during the stay in Bad Birnbach was reduced from 55 to 31 points on a "stress barometer". The pain experience for chronic pain decreased from 4.4 to 2.2 on a visual analogue scale, as the scientists from Würzburg found out.

Another study was conducted in cooperation with the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU). In this study (AGES = Active Against Exhaustion and Stress) a "psycho-educative" measure was introduced in addition to therapy in medicinal water and physical therapy. Bad Birnbach has thus clearly taken on the role of a pioneer. Top marks among the guests surveyed in Bad Birnbach refer, among other things, to the special location, the ambience, the special care and the support of the guests. We look forward to a pleasant and successful recovery of your joint and muscle problems with less stress.
